Continuing to build vocabulary, more focus on sign production and sign reception through group and teacher interactions. Grammar such as non-manual markers, verb inflection, use of space. Classifiers are introduced. Receptively will focus on storytelling and expressively practice retelling these stories as well as short stories, story comprehension and elements of storytelling. Recommended for students who have completed ASL 2A or have more exposure to ASL in which they can begin to engage in more complex conversation in ASL and are approaching intermediate comprehension and expressive ASL skills.

This intermediate-beginner class will continue to focus on greetings and developing basic conversation skills. Students will increase their vocabulary and learn more about Deaf culture. Students will continue learning numbers and different ways to sign them. Other topics will cover personal likes and dislikes, activities, living situations, families, life events. ASL 1B increases exposure to role shifting, narratives and other grammatical features of ASL.

This advanced beginner/intermediate level class offers more focus on spatial referencing, fingerspelling, identifying people and more complex conversations. Elements of beginning storytelling are introduced. Recommended for students who have completed ASL 1B or have more exposure to ASL in which they can hold a basic conversation in ASL and have fair comprehension and expressive ASL skills.
