Beginner Class: ASL 1A

Introduction to learning American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. Students will be introduced to how to learn a visual language, including basic greetings, etiquette for communicating in ASL, beginning fingerspelling and numbers skills. This class is for students who have no basic ASL skills and who have never taken any ASL classes.

Beginner Class: ASL 1B

This intermediate-beginner class will continue to focus on greetings and developing basic conversation skills. Students will increase their vocabulary and learn more about Deaf culture. Students will continue learning numbers and different ways to sign them. Other topics will cover personal likes and dislikes, activities, living situations, families, life events. ASL 1B increases exposure to role shifting, narratives and other grammatical features of ASL.
