ASL 1A LIVE SESSIONS
Our next scheduled ASL 1A live practice session will take place during the July session.
In the meantime, the course is open to students who wish to work
through the recorded lessons at their own pace.
The live sessions are designed as optional practice opportunities
once you’ve begun learning the material.

Attendance at the LIVE SESSIONS are highly encouraged yet OPTIONAL.
This is a complete e-course and can be done in self-study if you wish.

ASL 1A is where your American Sign Language journey begins!
This course is the ASL student’s first class in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. Students will be introduced to the visual language used by Deaf Americans from the ground up. No previous experience is expected. And, if you do know some ASL, we encourage you to take everything in with fresh eyes. We teach ASL authentically, silently, so our visual language comes alive!
Lessons will focus on:
basic greetings, conversations
cultural etiquette
ASL structure and grammatical concepts
beginning fingerspelling and numbering skills
No experience?? No worries!
This class is for students who have either zero or very few basic ASL skills
and/or who have never taken an ASL class before.
Our proven system will have you signing right off the bat.
You’ll be amazed how much you’ll learn in 8 weeks!
Once I’m in, then what?!
This course is designed to be an 8 week long study,
but you’ll have access to all course materials and live sessions for 4 months.
Since the lessons are entirely online and it’s self-paced, you can go faster or slower, if you like.
B U T we want to challenge you to not only learn what we’re teaching, but to master it.
We believe learning is by doing.
We’ve set this course to prompt you to sign as you would in a natural environment.
You’ll be ready for those real-life conversations!
The lessons are set up to be followed in order and must be completed before moving on to the next lesson.
In each of the 8 weeks, you’ll have sections of lessons to work on
(in your own time/own schedule), including:
A core “weekly lesson” – instructional videos, e-notes
outlining vocabulary, key concepts + practice.
A short Deaf Culture Lesson
Then you have the option to join us for a scheduled 1x/week virtual live practice session!
You have the opportunity to join us for live practice sessions online! These are optional but are a great way to test out your skills! It’s an opportunity to practice with your peers and get feedback from one of our amazing teachers in a silent environment!
